Under the direction of Lama Jigme Namgyal, the Golog Support Luxembourg takes care of nomadic children who are orphans or have parents unable to care for them. Most of these children come from very poor nomad families, who herd their yaks from region to region and do not have a fixed residence. They are among the poorest population in Tibet. Most of these children have lost one or both parents due to sickness or injury, and it is often not financially feasible for relatives to take on the care of an orphan. In response to this need, we created the Golog Support Childfund.
Please help give some of the most vulnerable Tibetan children a chance to learn, shape their future, and live their dreams. By sponsoring a child, you help safeguard the future of Tibetan culture and language, helping to ensure the Tibetan people remain an empowered and thriving society.
The Golog Support Childfund provides a permanent home for some of these orphaned boys at Dratshog Lobchung school, which is under the direction of the Pende Mekhang monastery in Dawu. They receive free education, food, clothing, and health care. Other children, such as the older female students you may see below, are financially supported by GSL for their studies elsewhere in the Golog region.
At present, there are 17 children under the care of GSL:
